The serpent was a beast of the field.
Adam was even called SON OF GOD. Luke 3:38 KJV Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. But Adam sinned.
Satan must have HISSSED, "YESSSS...." Cherubims and a flaming sword were put to block the Garden.
Amidst all the curses mentioned by God, He tells satan that a Seed of the woman would bruise his head, while this son's heel would be bruised.
The bible tells us somewhere else that Cherubims had eyes all over them. Ezekiel 10:9 KJV And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone. Ezekiel 10:12 KJV And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had. EYES in the Bible represent UNDERSTANDING.
Man was now out in evil.
And the sword would do a work itself, and cut down anyone who try to enter.
Ezekiel 1:6 KJV And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. Ezekiel 1:10 KJV As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. And at the END OF THE BIBLE, these beings are mentioned again, but called FOUR BEASTS. Revelation 4:7-8 KJV And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. (8) And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. EYES ALL OVER THEM indicate INTENSE WATCHFULNESS.
(My Grade Eight teacher had an operation on both her eyes and her eyes were always wide open.
Cherubs are not CUPIDS - cute naked babies with bows and arrows. It's like we are being told to UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND! So at the Garden, by a flaming sword, CHERUBIMS WITH EYES ALL OVER THEM ARE WATCHING WATCHING WATCHING. The Garden was where God put the man whom he told to rule the world and have dominion and conquer everything in the world and all its creatures.
Meanwhile the words the devil heard from God would eat away at him.
AND THE FIRST BOY BORN must have reminded the devil about the promise of a Son from the woman. THE CHERUBIMS keep watching... seeking to understand understand.

Genesis 4:1 KJV And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. IS THIS THE SEED? CHERUBIM WATCHED.

Genesis 2:20 KJV And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. The cheurbims did not know how God would do it, but they saw God preserve the Garden and knew that some day He must be going to bring man back to that Garden. SATAN caused the world to become so evil until all of man's thoughts were only evil.

In some ways Adam is like Christ who came later. All the dirt the devil was dishing out to man, Jesus began dealing with. But He had no dirt in Himself... so clean! If we could see the unseen, we'd see sinners with slithery, slimy lizards crawling all over them. Jesus preached KINGDOM! Getting back to God. BUT..... To the amazement of the cherubims... One day Jesus let them take Him to a cross! And the cherubims saw something.
Jesus was actually in the Garden -- ANOTHER GARDEN -- and when he spoke of drinking a bitter cup, the cherubims could see in the Spirit that he began DRINKING MUD AND DIRT. OUR SINS. And as they led Him to the cross, it was like He walked up to the entrance of the Garden of Eden.
Satan ran to the fiery sword as Jesus approached it. The Lord was filthy. SATAN:" What an idiot!
Jesus marched and said no word. Devil: "OH THIS IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!
The flaming sword burned brighter and whirled faster! The sky blackened.
Jesus had so much of our sin in him that He could not feel God. Matthew 27:46 KJV And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? SATAN WENT CRAZY WITH JOY/ "HAHAHAHAHAHA ME EAT DIRT???? "Yeah, right!!!!" The Lord screamed one more time. CHERUBIMS COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. "IT IS FINISHED!" Matthew 27:51 KJV And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; THE SWORD FLEW AT HIM WITH FURY AND CUT HIM DOWN! Cherubim could not believe it! THE SWORD WAS STILL THERE!!! Devil laughed. "BUT THE VEIL RIPPED!"
For three days hell had a party.

Devil walked away proud and sat down. But... something dripped on his shoulder.

The earthquake that started the day he died in the physical, reverberated into the spirit and cracked the gates of hell. DEMONS WERE SILENT.
