Exod 33:1-3  And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, [and] go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:  And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:  Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou [art] a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.

Exod 33:11-14  And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.  And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation [is] thy people. And he said, My presence shall go [with thee], and I will give thee rest.

Exod 33:18-23  And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. And the LORD said, Behold, [there is] a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

Exod 34:5-7  And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear [the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth [generation].

We referred to this passage a few weeks ago and the Lord directed me to it again. There is a cry from every true person who wants to be the Christian the Bible speaks about. Not social gathering christians. I just want to be in His presence! Moses was told that he would be put in the cleft of the rock to see God's glory.
Exod 33:21-23  And the LORD said, Behold, [there is] a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
A cleft is made as the result of a CLEAVING. In that CLEFT, Moses would see the glory.

Moses also smote a rock at one point and from a cleft where he smote it, water gushed forth.

The Rock has a cleft in it, and that is where Moses stood and from that vantage point saw glory. WE STAND WHERE HE WAS STRUCK. FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF BEING IN THE SAME PLACE AS CHRIST SMITTEN, WE SEE GLORY.

That is why it is so important for us to see that we died with Christ.

Once you stand in that standpoint, and look at everything from that perspective, no enemy can defeat you. I heard a story this morning. The name carries with it all the character and history of a person. Think of all the BIG NAMES in this world. Why? I DIED WITH JESUS. Let me stand from the perspective of where He died. God said, "Moses, go to the cleft.  Stand in the position of where the Rock was smitten.  From that perspective and viewpoint you will see glory." Notice what the glory that Moses saw consisted of:
Exod 34:6-7  And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear [the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth [generation].
MERCY. Sinners look at Jesus mercy when he forgave the adulterous woman and told her to sin no more, rather than stone her. His beloved is in the cleft of the Rock. God covered Moses with His hand while He was in the cleft. Want to know what that secret place is?
Psal 91:1-6  He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, [He is] my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, [and] from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth [shall be thy] shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; [nor] for the arrow [that] flieth by day; [Nor] for the pestilence [that] walketh in darkness; [nor] for the destruction [that] wasteth at noonday.
HE IS MY REFUGE. We are there in his wounded hands. People who look from the standpoint oif thankfulness, thinking of the song, "I should have been crucified, I should have suffered and died..." are sincerely praising Jesus, but offkey a bit. Adam wanted a bride, so he laid down in deep sleep. From the place where Adam laid down, a bride came forth. After all the cursing and sin...
Gene 3:20  And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
But in the beginning that was not so. The LAST ADAM, Jesus has come. He wanted a bride like Adam. What event was SIMEON (Peter) referring to?
Acts 15:7-9  And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men [and] brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as [he did] unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
James heard Peter describe how God put no difference between Gentiles and Jews, and indicated Peter referred to God taking gentiles out for HIS NAME.

And let us go back and see how this ties in.

Acts 10:45-48  And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
In referring to the day God took gentiles out for HIS NAME, Peter was talking about the day the gentiles received the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues, and were baptized in the name of Jesus.

He took out a people for HIS NAME.

ADAM KNEW EVE. Adam multiplied by that intimacy with Eve. The term KNOW refer sto this deep intimacy.

She came from His body and returned to His body and ADAM KNEW HER.

Moses said, "I WANT TO KNOW YOU."

So God said, "Okay, go to the cleft of the Rock."

God is telling us... That is the reason PAUL SAID....
Phil 3:9-10  And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
He said I want to stand IN HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS... IN HIM... so that I may know Him.
