FROM COMING OUT TO GOING IN

  Scripture Text:

Exodus 14:30-31 KJV  Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.  (31)  And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

Exodus 15:22-27 KJV  So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.  (23)  And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.  (24)  And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?  (25)  And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,  (26)  And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.  (27)  And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

Psalms 103:7 KJV  He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

  Message:

The journey of Israel out of Egypt began the day the lamb was slain.
  • In the bible culture, the day began at sunset and night came before daylight in one single day.
  • That is why Genesis puts the evening first when it reads the evening and the morning were the first day.
  • And so when the morning arrived after the spirit of death went through Egypt, while the Israelites were in their houses protected by the blood of the lamb, it counted as the same day as when the death angel passed through.

Thank God for the death of Christ THE FIRST DAY when He was crucified.
  • It paid the price for our sins and SIN.
  • It cut us off from the fallen race of Adam, and put us into the new creation race of Jesus Christ, the NEW ADAM.

2 Corinthians 5:14 KJV  For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

The FIRST DAY represents all God did in getting us OUT.
  • Like Pharaoh's kingdom came to it's knees under God's mighty hand, satan's kingdom came to it's knees in relation to our lives that were once bound beneath that power and force.

Exodus 13:20 KJV  And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

They went to the SECOND DAY when they encamped.

During the second day we read:

Exodus 14:31-15:1 KJV  And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.  (15:1)  Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

There is a joy and there is a revelation we experience in the SECOND DAY.
  • Just as baptism is the second item listed in Acts 2:38, the second day of Exodus saw the RED SEA flow over and destroy the armies of the Egyptians.
  • ISRAEL SAW THAT and rejoiced and SANG!
  • The bible often speaks of SEEING SOMETHING -- or understanding it -- and then rejoicing.

Isaiah 53:12-54:1 KJV  Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.  (54:1)  Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.

Same with the great Isa 53 chapter of Christ's death.
  • After we read of it, the 54'th chapter begins by saying SING!
  • When you truly get a revelation of what happened in Christ's death, you WILL SING!

I thank God for all the SINGING -- in other words, ANY REJOICING TESTIMONY -- that tells us about how God delivered someone from Egypt.
  • Egypt speaks of the bondage people used to be in.
  • We hear a lot here about deliverance from alcohol and drinking.
  • We hear a lot about drugs and broken families where God saved us from.
  • This is the FIRST REJOICING TO OCCUR IN SALVATION.

And although it seems Israel went a full three more days, after this second day at the Red Sea, the idea of THE THIRD DAY again rises.

We all know the third day was when Jesus Christ resurrected from the grave.
  • And the events that occurred this third day correspond to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the whole reason for salvation.

Exodus 15:22 KJV  So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

THIRD DAY was when Jesus resurrected.

And there is cause for a GREATER AND MORE ADVANCED FORM OF REJOICING at this third day.
  • The first rejoicing was with the alcohol, the drugs and the hold of satan that God broke us out of and saved us from.
  • BUT THERE IS A GREATER REJOICING FOR WHICH THE FIRST REJOICING IS ONLY SUPPOSED TO LEAD US TO.

There is rejoicing for coming OUT OF, but there is rejoicing FOR COMING INTO.

Deuteronomy 6:23 KJV  And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.

He saves you OUT OF ALCOHOL, so he can bring you INTO SOMETHING ELSE.
  • NEW WINE.
  • But I am not just talking about new wine of the Spirit where we just receive the Spirit.
  • I am talking about ENTERING INTO A LIFESTYLE, just like we were in a lifestyle of drunkenness.
  • There is a lifestyle of SOMETHING DIFFERENT!
  • And its more than just attending church instead of a bar every weekend.

MOSES LED THEM FROM THE RED SEA where they rejoiced over what they came out of.
  • God wants you to leave the COMING OUT of phase.
There are two kingdoms mentioned here.
  • EGYPT & LAND OF PROMISE.
  • Israel was God's people right from the start.
  • But God's people may have been out of EGYPT'S kingdom, but was the QUALITY OF THEIR LIVES AND WAS THEIR EXPERIENCE THAT OF A NEW KINGDOM?
  • They were the PEOPLE of God's new kingdom.
  • But THEY WERE NOT ENJOYING THAT KINGDOM YET.
  • They were not actually in Canaan.

God took us out of the devil's kingdom when he saved us.
  • But God has a wilderness between Egypt and Canaan in which he TAKES REMNANTS OF THE OLD LIFE AND KINGDOM OUT OF OUR LIVES, AND REPLACES THEM WITH NEW ELEMENTS OF HIS KINGDOM.
  • This perfectly describes how people progress.
  • They STILL ACT like sinners after they are saved IN THEIR PERSONALITIES and IN THEIR ATTITUDES and way of handling things.
  • God took their sins, and destroyed their citizenship from Egypt, BUT THEY STILL THINK THE WAY THEY DID BACK THEN.
  • THE OUTWARD THINGS CHANGE, BUT THEN GOD WORKS ON THE INWARD THINGS.
  • You may not drink or smoke, but how do you act in situations?

EGYPT IS STILL IN BELIEVER'S MINDS.

And HE BROUGHT US OUT OF TO BRING US INTO.
  • The PHYSICAL THINGS CHANGE, and we rejoice over that.
  • But then God wants a new rejoicing!
  • A further level.
  • REJOICING OVER HOW GOD DELIVERED US FROM DEEPER THINGS because NEW WAYS WERE PUT INSIDE US.

As Moses took Israel past the Red Sea and it's rejoicing, God leads us further than just getting delivered from alcohol or gambling.
  • He wants to take us into a NEW THINKING and PERSONALITY.

They came upon BITTER WATER.
  • And although the people had no more chains of Egypt.. and no more physical whips on their backs, THEY STILL ACTED LIKE THEY DID IN EGYPT.

RED SEA:  Exodus 14:11 KJV  And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

AFTER RED SEA:  Exodus 15:23-24 KJV  And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.  (24)  And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

THEY STILL MURMURED.

You can get delivered from drugs, BUT DO YOU STILL COMPLAIN in bad situations?
  • DO YOU STILL MURMUR as you did before the RED SEA?
  • See, this is dealing with YOUR INNER PERSON.
  • THE WAY YOUR SOUL ACTS.
  • Your body used to be into drugs and liquor or adultery and fornication.
  • But you are freed from that at the Red Sea, and now YOUR SOUL IS GOD'S CONCERN.
  • Your soul is where your attitude is.

THE FIRST DAY is the lamb's blood.

The second DAY is the RED SEA of water baptism.

BUT THIS THIRD DAY IS RESURRECTION.

YOU SAW WHAT GOD DID TO THE DEVIL and your liquor and your drugs and adultery the first and second day.
  • THEY SAW What God did to the Egyptians and they rejoiced.
  • BUT NOW GOD WANTS YOU TO SEE SOMETHING MORE.
  • SOMETHING DEEPER.

Exodus 15:25 KJV  And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

THE LORD SHOWED HIM A TREE.

THE CROSS.

You would think the cross was the first thing you saw.
  • But instead we read they SAW WHAT GOD DID to the enemy.
  • You saw what God did to your booze and your wickedness.
  • BUT NOW GOD TAKES YOU DEEPER, and HE SHOWS YOU BEYOND WHAT HE DID, AND SHOWS YOU WHAT HE USED.
  • You SEE THE CROSS because it is the UNDERLYING power behind what He did!
  • When you go deeper with God, and grow more mature in the Spirit, YOU COME to learn HIS WAYS.

Psalms 103:7 KJV  He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

Notice MOSES was shown the TREE.
  • Not Israel.
  • The people continued to complain.
  • Instead of complaining, what did Moses do?

Exodus 15:24-25 KJV  And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?  (25)  And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

While people complained to MAN, Moses CRIED TO GOD!
  • That is the difference between spiritually immature and mature believers.

People only saw what GOD DID.

Exodus 14:31 KJV  And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

And they rejoiced.

BUT IMAGINE WHAT DEEPER JOY AND DEEPER GLORY THERE IS IN KNOWING HIS WAYS.

While People saw what GOD DID, God showed Moses a TREE.
  • THE WAYS.
  • He even showed MOSES His ways when he told Moses to use the rod.
  • The people only complained about the armies behind them.
  • God showed Moses the ROD.

The rod and the tree always speaks of Christ and the cross.

SEEING THE CROSS MEANS UNDERSTANDING GOD'S WAYS.
  • When you only see ACTS of God, you can easily complain.
  • But when you have come to see GOD'S WAYS, you no longer complain.
  • Complaining is only done when you do not know what to do -- don't know THE WAY.
  • But when God shows You His ways, THEN YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO BECAUSE YOU KNOW THE WAY!

Take the cross and put it into your situation.
  • THIS IS GOD'S "WAYS" in action.

THE WAY God dealt with sin is the WAY you also deal with DEEPER THINGS.

And this is the first thing God says to Israel after He spoke to Moses to use his rod and close the red Sea over the enemy.
  • IT INVOLVES THE WAY YOU LIVE.
  • WAYS OF GOD.

His ACTS were destroying the enemy.
  • BUT YOU MOVE INTO HIS WAYS now.
  • AND IT HAS TO DO WITH YOUR LIFESTYLE.

Most only know the cross for saving from sin.
  • Nothing more than that.
  • People go entire lifetimes knowing only that about the cross.
  • And if they were truly delivered, they only rejoice forevermore about God's ACTS and getting out of bondages to drink and women and so on.

He brought out out from Egypt to Bring us into the promised land.
  • He brought you out of bondage to all those shackles to bring you into REPLACEMENTS.

Many are God's people and part of His kingdom, BUT DO NOT ENJOY THE KINGDOM.
  • As Israel was out of Egypt and not yet into Canaan, many believers are out of drugs and all of that, BUT NOT INTO EXPERIENCE OF GOD'S BLESSINGS.

God spoke about HEALINGS and diseases.
  • Let us also think of anything like that.
  • DO YOU STILL HAVE INNER DISEASE OF COMPLAINT?
  • DO YOU MURMUR?
  • DO YOU DOUBT THE WAY YOU ALWAYS DOUBTED?
  • DO YOU FEAR THE WAY YOU FEARED AS A SINNER?
  • DO YOU FRET OVER BILLS THE WAY YOU DID AS A SINNER?

You are God's child, but do you act like God is not your Father, the way sinners can only act, by complaining in doubt to man instead of crying to God in faith for help?

God spoke of EXPERIENCING MORE in these words.

OBEY AND DO GOD'S WAYS.
  • Moses knew God's ways.
  • God wanted Israel to know His ways AND DO THEM.

Deuteronomy 12:8-9 KJV  Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.  (9)  For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.

The reason believers are not EXPERIENCING JOY is because they do not know God's ways, and if they know them, they do not live them.
  • And God said "THIS BLESSED LIFE CAN ONLY BE ENJOYED BY THOSE WHO DO MY WAY AND NOT THEIR OWN WAYS."
  • GET IT:  THE PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN AND MURMUR AND HAVE ATTITUDE TROUBLES ARE NOT LIVING GOD'S WAY BUT THE WAY THEY THINK THEY SHOULD LIVE, THEMSELVES.

GET A REVELATION OF THE TREE!

SELF DENIAL is involved.

Matthew 10:39 KJV  He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Matthew 16:24 KJV  Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Matthew 16:25 KJV  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Showing Moses a TREE corresponds to DOING GOD'S WORD AND NOT YOUR OWN.
  • Because the Cross involves SELF DENIAL.

Third day is walking in newness of life.

Romans 6:3-5 KJV  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?  (4)  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  (5)  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Likeness of his resurrection is not speaking about our bodies rising one day, although that will occur.
  • It is speaking about WALKING NEWNESS OF LIFE.
  • EXPERIENCING new lifestyle.

IT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE FIRST DAY.

He brought us out to bring us in... is like saying: We died with Him that we might LIVE WITH HIM.

AFTER READING ABOUT HIS DEATH WE READ ABOUT OUR LIVING

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 KJV  For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:  (15)  And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Most are stuck at the Red Sea rejoicing.
  • They rejoice over deliverance, but watch out if you say something they do not like!
  • Most are stuck in Christ's death.
  • But they are not LIVING A NEW WAY OF LIFE as Jesus did in resurrection.

We hear rejoicing over freedom from liquor.

BUT WHAT ABOUT REJOICING OVER BEING SET FREE FROM SHARP TONGUE, OR BAD ATTITUDE OR EASILY BEING MADE ANGRY?

GOD WILL HEAL YOU... a BLESSED LIFE.
  • Are we experiencing that?

On either side of Jesus in the TOMB was a death beforehand and a resurrection afterwards.
  • Many are in the tomb spiritually.
  • They are dead to sin, but not enjoying a LIFE that is PLAINLY DIFFERENT!
  • WILDERNESS is between Egypt and Canaan.

Its the difference between the bear released from the cage and walking only around in the same area the cage formerly allowed, versus the bear released and running free in all the countryside!

Some believers REACT the same way they did as sinners.
  • They never got rid of their tempers yet.
  • They never got rid of their impatience.

They walk in the same AREA of bad temper and attitude, only they are not in a cage now.
  • THEY COULD RUN FREE OF THAT, BUT THEY DO NOT.

We can all enjoy healing and benefits of joy and so on.
  • BUT AFTER 2 Cor 5 mentions the death of Jesus it mentions LIVING NOT UNTO OURSELVES BUT UNTO HIM WHO SAVED US.
  • Without that OBEDIENCE, we will not have the LIVING.

Judges 17:6 KJV  In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

When we are doing what we want to do, despite God's ways, then God is not our King.

OUR POSITION:

Ephesians 2:5-6 KJV  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  (6)  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

NOW ACT LIKE IT:

Ephesians 4:1 KJV  I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

GOD SAID ...

You will change when you SEE THE TREE.
  • If you act the way you always did, you have not seen the tree.
  • God has not been able to show it to you.
  • Try as you might, you cannot make yourself change without seeing the tree.
  • God must give you a revelation, and that means YOUR HEART HAS TO BE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
We must live life God's way!
