The Beginning of Months
January 1, 2017

Exodus 12:1-2  And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,  (2)  This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

This chapter is about the instructions God gave to Moses for the PASSOVER lamb that would be sacrificed the night God would kill the firstborn of Egypt and save the Hebrew firstborn, and bring Pharaoh to his knees.

·        That event took place in the month that would forever be the beginning of months.
·        A new “new year”.

It forced them to work together and devour the lamb.
    * Families had to eat the lamb together, for they could not devour it all by individually.
    * And if there was too small a family for a whole lamb, they would eat with their neighbor.

Exodus 12:4  And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

And all the families had to slay the lamb and use its blood the same day.
    * It forced the people to come together in unity.
    * This shows how God wants unity among His people.

This was the first time Israel was called the CONGREGATION OF ISRAEL.

Exodus 12:3  Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:

The word CHURCH is the same word as CONGREGATION in the bible.

Passover was the first sacrifice ever taught in detail by God.
    * It was the first national commemoration for Israel ever.
    * Before any other purpose of Passover, it was noted to be a national commemorative event.

When they would have the lamb die in the place of the Hebrew firstborn, the month the lamb was a substitionary sacrifice for the Hebrews would be the beginning of the new year.

This is the first day of the New year 2017.

·        And the bible new year shows a message that this represents the fact that when you find Jesus and believe His death on the cross was a substitute for your death, and how that means YOU DIED WITH HIM, it’s a new beginning for you!

·        No matter when your faith in Christ began, that’s when your years begin.

All the years and when they started form your old life ARE GONE.

·        This begins your months from now on.

Rev 1:8  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

·        He is the beginning of your new life and He is the ending of your old life.

Exod 12:10  And ye shall let nothing of it remain until....

·        They were to eat the lamb just as we are to take heed to the Word of God UNTIL something happened.

"Until... the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire."
·        UNTIL THE MORNING:
·        Compare:

Exod 12:10  And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

2 Peter 1:19...  ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

The DAY DAWNS in the morning.

Get all the light and get all the meat of the lamb.

They had to eat all the lamb by the time the morning arrived.
·        Anything leftover was burned.
·        Peter told us to heed the word of the apostles UNTIL THE DAY DAWNS.
·        Until a morning occurs!

Just as they ate the lamb UNTIL the morning arrived, we need to heed the word until the day dawns.

You must receive the lamb and devour it, so to speak.
·        And a reaction occurs.

You aren’t supposed to just believe what your church teaches, when you really don’t know what it is.
·        Your heart has to personally get the word and believe it.
·        Something spiritual has to happen in YOUR HEART, yourself.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4  But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:  (4)  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Lost people are the ones who don’t believe, disallowing the LIGHT of the gospel to shine to them.

2 Corinthians 4:5-6  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.  (6)  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

This is the light Peter talked about.
·        Just like a day dawns in your heart, A NEW CREATION OCCURS!
·        Like in Genesis!
·        Paul compared the light shining in your heart to God speaking Light into existence in the dark world in Genesis 1:3.

In 2 Cor 3, Paul said there is a light or glory that shines from the preaching of the gospel.

2 Corinthians 3:12-18  Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:  (13)  And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:  (14)  But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.  (15)  But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.  (16)  Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.  (17)  Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.  (18)  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Satan can blind you so well that even if you read the word of God, but it’s ONLY OLD TESTAMENT like the Jews restrict their faith in, your heart is still blinded.
·        Paul said the apostles were plain about spiritual truth, whereas it’s all mysteries and shadows in the Old Testament.
·        But when a Jewish person turns to Jesus, the veil is removed and satan can’t blind them any more.

Then he says where the Spirit is there is liberty!

Acts 8:27-39  And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,  (28)  Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.  (29)  Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.  (30)  And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?  (31)  And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.  (32)  The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:  (33)  In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.  (34)  And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?  (35)  Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.  (36)  And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?  (37)  And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  (38)  And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.  (39)  And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

But notice it says THE LORD IS THAT SPIRIT!

2 Corinthians 3:17  Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

·        Jesus is this Spirit!

·        That’s why the WORD of the new testament rips a veil off your heart.
·        JESUS IS THE WORD.
·        Jesus is the LIGHT.

Revelation 21:23  And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

That’s why Paul said when he preached he preached JESUS.

2 Corinthians 4:5  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

Jesus is the daystar!

The day dawns when you believe in Jesus and live a holy life!

Don’t stop looking at the light.

Ephesians 5:5-8  For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.  (6)  Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.  (7)  Be not ye therefore partakers with them.  (8)  For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

You can stop looking at light and become blind again.

2 Peter 1:6-9  And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;  (7)  And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.  (8)  For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  (9)  But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

You will be blind when you forget you were purged from these old sins.

But there is a gospel of good news, also, to the believer.

Galatians 2:19-21  For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.  (20)  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.  (21)  I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Christ was located on the cross to die as you, and he is located inside you to live as you.
·        Jesus HELPS US live what is right, because it’s impossible on our own.
