HOW WE RECEIVE THE SURE MERCIES OF DAVID

As the glory poured forth when Solomon ruled and the Temple was dedicated and the ark set in its place, the SPIRIT OF GOD POURED OUT on the day of Pentecost.

2 Chronicles 6:41-7:3 KJV  (41)  Now therefore arise, O LORD God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness.  (42)  O LORD God, turn not away the face of thine anointed: remember the mercies of David thy servant.  (7:1)  Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.  (2)  And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house.  (3)  And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

HOW WE RECEIVE THE SURE MERCIES OF DAVID

FIRE AND GLORY, like his ANOINTING OF HIS MERCY FALLS AND BLESSES!

Acts 2:1-4 KJV  And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  (2)  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  (3)  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  (4)  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 1:15 KJV  And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

This was just as Solomon’s temple was dedicated and the ark entered – Like Jesus in the Holiest:

2 Chronicles 5:7-14 KJV  (7)  And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, to the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims:  (8)  For the cherubims spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.  (9)  And they drew out the staves of the ark, that the ends of the staves were seen from the ark before the oracle; but they were not seen without. And there it is unto this day.  (10)  There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.  (11)  And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by course:  (12)  Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)  (13)  It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;  (14)  So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.

We receive HIS SURE MERCIES when we receive his SPIRIT OF RESURRECTION.

This mercy of resurrection is ultimate, because His resurrection was not like Lazarus' or Jarius' daughter, for those people died again physically.

Romans 6:9-10 KJV  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.  (10)  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Jesus would never die again!
  • He was rasied IMMORTAL!
  • That is ultimate sure mercies.
  • DEATH CANNOT TOUCH HIM AGAIN!
  • He was not even susceptible to death when He resurrected.
  • He was immortal.

Mercy comes in many forms, but sure mercies are unending mercies that keep on keeping on.

And this gives us the idea of why Isaiah 55 mentioned the everlasting covenant as well.
  • It is everlasting because it is UNENDING and resurrection from death means one lives forevermore.

There is something powerful we need to understand about the KINGDOM today.

The Bible ends with the book of Revelation.
  • And the last chapter int he bible shows JESUS ON THE THRONE OF GOD.
  • SURE MERCIES are seen FLOWING FROM HIS THRONE.

Revelation 22:1 KJV  And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

That throne had no river flowing from it earlier in the book.

Revelation 4:6 KJV  And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

It is just GOD on the throne and the LAMB approaches that throne and sits down with the Father.

Revelation 3:21 KJV  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

In fact that verse is immediately before chapter 4 where the entire concept of the Lamb going to the throne BEGINS.

And that SEA before the throne becomes a RIVER after the LAMB SITS WITH GOD.

Revelation 22:1 KJV  And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

And it is a river of LIFE.
  • This is not just any ordinary LIFE.
  • It is resurrection LIFE.
  • It is LIFE from the SURE MERCIES OF DAVID Life.

Revelation is vital to understand because a proper understanding of KINGDOM LIVING requires a correct understanding of REVELATION.
  • If people are mixed up about the Kingdom not being now and that Jesus is not yet on the throne of David, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THEIR ESCHATOLOGY.
  • Get your eschaotlogy straightened out and you will soon realize the KINGDOM IS HERE TODAY AND Jesus is already on the throne of David.

We know Jesus received the sure mercies of David according to Paul in His resurrection.

But....

Isaiah 55:1-3 KJV  Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.  (2)  Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.  (3)  Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

HE IS SPEAKING TO US TODAY ABOUT HOW WE CAN buy bread and wine (hello?) and milk without money, by HEARING.
  • And God will make an everlasting covenant with us -- EVEN THE SURE MERCIES OF DAVID.

So WE receive the sure mercies of David in a covenant That God gave to David.
  • Just as JESUS RECEIVED IT!
