THE UNION AND THE BIRTHING

Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he
said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow
thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband,
and he shall rule over thee.
John 16:16-22 A little while, and ye shall
not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go
to the Father. Then said [some] of his disciples among themselves, What
is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me:
and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the
Father? They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while?
we cannot tell what he saith. Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to
ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said,
A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and
ye shall see me? Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and
lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your
sorrow shall be turned into joy. A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow,
because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child,
she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the
world. And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and
your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
Jesus, of course, spoke of His death and resurrection to the disciples
who wondered what He meant by speaking of departing from them and then
returning again.
-
He used terms that described their sorrow over their thoughts of His departure
that God first used when speaking to Eve about her curse due to sin.
-
Because the woman followed the words of the serpent and sinned against
God, she would bring forth children in sorrow of pain.
-
Jesus spoke of a woman travailing in giving birth as a woman having “sorrow”.
Note that Adam was told to multiply.
-
He multiplied once already, and the woman came from his side.
-
He was to multiply further by begetting children through the means of his
wife.
-
She was going to bear children for Adam.
God desires mankind to, in similar manner, birth forth His Christ into
our world.
-
Jesus is called the Last Adam in 1 Cor 15:45.
God works in our lives in two phases which both involve the thought of
birthing.
(1) First, we are born again.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said
unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again,
he cannot see the kingdom of God.
We become children of God.
We come into a new universe of the kingdom of God and see a world that
the unregenerate do not know.
-
We escape the darkness and the enclosure of the womb, and see and enter
a new world.
(2) And then Christ is formed in our lives and we are birth His life
and His ways into the world around us through our lives.
JESUS USES PRINCIPLE OF THE MOTHER WHEN DESCRIBING DISCIPLES
John 16:20-22 Verily, verily, I
say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world
shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow
shall be turned into joy.
Jesus spoke to the disciples as being in sorrow as a mother is in sorrow
when she travails to give birth.
-
Jesus referred to the birth as His literal resurrection.
-
As a woman forgets all about her suffering when the child is born, the
disciples would also forget their sorrow once Jesus was resurrected.
HEARTS IMPREGNATED BY SEED
But perhaps Jesus implied more than that.
With that in mind, turn to:
Hebrews 4:2 For unto us was the
gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached
did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that
heard [it].
The seed is the word and the word is mixed with FAITH.
What part of us believes and has faith?
Romans 10:10 For with the heart
man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation.
The HEART believes.
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near
with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
So the HEART is where FAITH exists.
-
And the SEED of the WORD drops into the HEART, and FAITH MIXES WITH THE
WORD.
Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground
are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard
the word, keep [it], and bring forth fruit with patience.
The heart is the SOIL.
As in Jesus’ parable in Luke 8, some HEARTS have other elements in them
besides FAITH.
-
Some have stones.
-
Some have thorns of cares of the world.
Your heart is precious, people.
Don’t let it bring forth thorns of death.
What WORD do we receive?
-
Word of salvation.
-
John 1:14 says the word was made flesh.
-
Jesus Christ.
The word is a SEED.
-
Jesus is the SEED.
-
Our hearts are the earth.
-
As the Word is the Seed and Faith is the EGG, Christ is impregnated into
our hearts, and God’s will is for Him to come forth from our lives.
More specifically the WORD we receive is Christ and Him crucified.
-
Why that?
-
Speaking only about Christ’s birth in Bethlehem will save nobody.
-
The work of salvation was accomplished on an old rugged cross.
IDENTIFY WITH HIS DEATH AND RESURRECTION
And Jesus told us to eat His flesh and drink His blood.
-
He meant His flesh Broken in death and His blood shed in death.
-
And that death occurred on the cross.
-
He said it would give us life.
-
And like Going to the Tree of Life and plucking its fruit and eating and
living forever, we partook of His death on the cross and impregnated our
hearts with it by our faith.
BIRTH FORTH VICTORY OF CHRIST IN YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES
Those who constantly identify with Christ’s death by faith, will birth
forth Christ’s life from their lives.
When hard times come, and you do not have the strength to battle a situation,
identify yourself with Christ.
-
Through the truths of the cross and your faith that it was done for YOU,
you stand upon your union to Him, and His name, as a wife holds her husband’s
name, bearing children in her husband’s name, you will see the fruit of
VICTORY IN THAT SITUATION COME FORTH FROM YOUR LIFE!
When fear attacks your mind, recall your union with Him.
-
Identify with Him in that moment.
-
His power is your’s!
-
Birth forth His victory over fear in the boldness of Jesus Christ!
You take a spiritual communion every time you enter a situation that requires
faith and you then identify yourself with Him and claim victory over that
situation on the basis of your union with Him.
You are not going to stand up against fear, stress or the devil himself,
unless you have faith in your union with Christ.
THOSE WHO HAVE NOT FAITH IN THEIR UNION TO CHRIST
Many of you are united to Christ, but you have no faith in it, nor understand
it.
-
You need to know the benefits that are yours due to your union to Him.
-
The Word lists them for us.
-
You have power over all manner of sickness.
-
You have dominion and might.
-
Its His and you are in union with Him.
-
Have faith in that and identify yourself with Him for every situation you
come across that demands faith to overcome.
JOY IN THE BIRTHING
Like a mother has joy and forgets the sorrow of travail, you will have
joy when you birth Christ’s victory into your situation.
Every battle you win will result from birthing Christ’s victory through
your life into that battle.
-
And you will have joy every time Christ is birthed forth.
-
Joy as with a mother who births her child after the pain of travail!
-
Have faith in your union!
-
Mix the “seed” of the word with your “egg” of faith.
-
Christ is the works of faith and victory that result from this LABOUR.
Hebrews 4:2 says we mix the word with faith and in verse 11 he calls that
the LABOUR we must experience.
Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour
therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example
of unbelief.
Women undergo “Labour” while in travail.
Let us labour.
-
The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with
the glory that shall be revealed in us.
-
Once the birthing occurs, the joy of it causes us to forget all about the
sufferings.
"JOY OF THE LORD" IS YOUR STRENGTH
There are many believers who have backslidden away from the Lord.
-
Many of them point to somebody else in the church, or an outsider whose
influence upon their lives caused them lose their relationship with God.
-
The fact remains that Jesus said that the joy that comes from one who abides
in the Vine, is joy that no man taketh away.
-
If no man can take away this joy, then why do some backslide?
-
The problem is these people did not have the JOY OF THE LORD.
-
Those who have the JOY OF THE LORD cannot lose that joy due to the influence
of others.
-
They can lose it of their own accord, but nobody else can cause them
to lose it.
-
Many people have a natural joy they experience in church
gathering.
-
They may like the fellowship or the music of the manner of the preaching.
-
But natural joy can be taken away.
-
On the other hand, the joy of the Lord cannot be taken away from you.
So, if you have lost your joy, then recognize that it was not JOY OF THE
LORD that you once had.
-
Seek God and abide in Christ, that you may have the JOY OF THE LORD.
-
Nobody can take that joy away from you!
