TWO RIVERS: FLESH AND SPIRIT

Joshua 3:11-17 KJV  Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into Jordan.  (12)  Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man.  (13)  And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.  (14)  And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;  (15)  And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)  (16)  That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.  (17)  And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.

Ezekiel 47:3-12 KJV  And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles.  (4)  Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.  (5)  Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.  (6)  And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river.  (7)  Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other.  (8)  Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.  (9)  And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.  (10)  And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.  (11)  But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.  (12)  And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

The Jordan river was passed over in Joshua 5.

But the river from the temple could not be passed over.

The first river had to be cut off and passed over.

In the Jordan they went on dry land, Ezekiel went on something totally opposite.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.

An unsatisfied human is shown in the woman at the well who had 6 men and the seventh comes along, Jesus.

Ezekiel 47 shows the river going to the Dead Sea just like the Jordan.

John was in the Spirit and saw things he never saw before.

And then he reads about the river going to the Dead Sea.

You will either be in the river from Adam which is the fleshly river, or the river of the Spirit that God wants us to swim in.

When this second river hits the Sea, this river HEALS IT.

People in the Spirit will bring life to sinners.

Romans 12 teaches us to not be conformed to the world.

We you have a conscious NEED for the Spirit, knowing you can do nothing without him, the anointing and power comes.

Salvation by works would be the furthest thing from our minds.

Doing good cannot get us to heaven.

God’s eyes look for someone to show HIMSELF STRONG for them.

Romans 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This is spoken to believers.

Lambs blood got them out of Egypt, and blood still got them out of the wilderness since it was on the ark.

While the parents of those who entered Canaan were afraid of the Canaanites, the spies heard Rahab say Jericho was afraid of the Israelites.

You are one with Jesus since you have the atonement.

We learn the death of Jesus that took everything the devil could throw at Him, and kill Him, was followed by resurrection!

We die to self so much that our feelings aren’t touchy and easily offended.

The ark stopped the Jordan, and it represented the throne of God.

When Jesus was GLORIFIED the river would flow.

On the day of Atonement, the High Priest sprinkled the sacrificial blood on the mercyseat of the ark, and the death of the sacrifice counted in God's eyes as the death of the people of Israel.

Now, this is not written to sinners, but believers.

Now, the death of the lamb freed Israel 40 years earlier when they were in Egypt.

That is the difference between someone first saved, and someone saved for some time who has matured in the Spirit and FULLY UNDERSTANDS their deaths with Christ.

They had the sacrifice in Egypt that freed them from Egypt.

You see, Egypt was defeated by the death of the Lamb.

The thing that stopped the River of Jordan is the same thing that STARTED the river of Life.

Rev 22:1 KJV  And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Notice that the River of Life flowed from the throne of God and the Lamb.

The revelation that helps us to stop walking after the flesh is the revelation that teaches us how to walk after the Spirit.

What a change!

What a difference!

The entire sequence of thought from Romans 6 into Romans 8 is speaking about our baptism into Jesus Christ's death so that we can understand it counts as OUR DEATHS.

Rom 6:11-13 KJV  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  (12)  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.  (13)  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

It has always been true, but we never realized we were resurrected from the dead with Jesus when He saved us.

40 years earlier they could have crossed Jordan, but were full of doubt.
