A FAR GREATER BEGINNING

The Bible teaches the following:
1 Corinthians 15:46  Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
The first work is always natural and then a spiritual work occurs afterwards. Jesus referred to the coming day of Pentecost as THE BEGINNING. Peter also referred to the day of Pentecost as the beginning.

Genesis starts with referring to THE BEGINNING.

John's Gospel speaks of the IN THE BEGINNING, also. Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh. His Word is inseparable from His Works. But in the NEW TESTAMENT AGE, God went further than He ever did in using His Word.
John 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Everything that this man said and did was WORD OF GOD. His WORD and WORKS are inseparable.

The New Testament is the NEW CREATION OF GOD.

In Genesis we read...
Genesis 1:1-2  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. So we see waters, and the Spirit of God flutters like a dove over the waters.
Genesis 1:3  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Then God's Word commanded LIGHT to exist.

That was the first day of Genesis' natural creation.

This morning we noted that John's Gospel began counting the first of a series of days with the day listed in John 1:29.

The Spirit of God descended upon Him IN THE WATERS. A FAR GREATER BEGINNING. The day of Pentecost spiritually is linked to the Beginning we read about in John. WIND in Hebrew is also translated as SPIRIT. In order for them to speak in tongues as the SPIRIT GAVE UTTERANCE, we understand it is GOD'S WORD that they were speaking. The SOUND went from being in the room to being IN THE PEOPLE.

The works of the Father occurred that day and as the Spirit entered them, while they SPOKE GOD'S WORD, they were made NEW CREATURES.

This was what JESUS referred to as the BEGINNING in Luke 24:47.
Luke 24:47  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Acts 11:15  And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

A FAR GREATER BEGINNING THAN GENESIS!

Notice that PETER said AS I BEGAN TO SPEAK.

Peter spoke GOD'S WORD that day. In Acts 2 we read what the WORD SPOKEN IN TONGUES did. Here again WORD and WORKS OF GOD are inseparable.

Why did God choose tongues?

James 3:3-8  Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
The tongue can no man tame. You may have received the Spirit long before I did, but we both experienced the same beginning. His Spirit filled the house in Acts 2. Always the WORD OF GOD came with FILLING OF THE SPIRIT.

JUST LIKE GENESIS.

I am speaking the Word of God again today. There was WATER AND SPIRIT when the first Beginning occurred.
John 3:5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
It BEGINS and you ENTER the Kingdom when you are born of the WATER AND SPIRIT.
