"HIS BLOOD AND MY TESTIMONY"

NOVEMBER 1, 1998 PM
MICHAEL F BLUME

1Joh 5-5:4  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Reve 12:10-11  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

This morning we began speaking about absorbing Jesus into our experience. As the Hebrews passed in through the blood surrounded doorway, and then were to eat the meat of the lamb, we must get into Christ by salvation and begin to absorb Jesus into our experience.

We left off saying that whatever is true of Christ is true for us, since we are united to Him by our faith that His death was accomplished as our deaths.

God wants to change us into the type of people He created Adam to be.

We absorb into our experience the things that are true about Jesus.

We died with Jesus.

Roma 6:4-5  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection:
What is true of Him is true of us.
Roma 6:10-12  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
So we see that what is true for Him is true for us. We saw that only those circumcised could eat the lamb in the houses.
Colo 2:3  In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
This verse said that in Christ are hidden all the treasures of knowledge and wisdom.

This is repeated in:

Ephe 1:17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
All that we need to know is in Him, but hidden in Him. This veil stops people from seeing what is true in Him is for us.
2Cor 3:18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.

When the veil is removed, we can see the glory of the wisdom and knowledge that is in Jesus.

I am changed into His image.

Back to Colossians.

Colo 2:10-13  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
This is what Ephesians said!

Moses said that nobody can eat the lamb unless they have a veil of flesh circumcised.

We need a good revelation of Jesus Christ.

We have an entire book dedicated to just that.

Reve 1:1  The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John:

This is not about the end of the world, although that is a part of it, but is a revelation of Jesus Christ.

What is a Revelation of Jesus Christ?

The first verses we read in this message tonight surrounded OVERCOMING.

What is your testimony?

So I was buried with Him in water baptism.

I overcome because of the fact that His death allowed me to unite to Him, since He died as me, and have a new testimony.

This is how we overcome.

A little boy looks at his older brother and sees how he can walk into a certain company and ask anyone there to do anything he needs, as he walks inside the best office in the company.

[1]

Here is a problem in the Ephesian church.

Reve 2:4-6  Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
They left their first love.
Reve 2:7  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Adam was thrown out of Garden when he lost his first love for the things of God.
Rev 2:1... he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
Rev 2:7...To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

He is in the midst of the candlesticks - where all the LIGHT comes from.

John 1:4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John said the LIGHT is the LIFE of men.

[2]

Reve 2:8  And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
Problem there was:
Reve 2:10  Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast [some] of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
You will suffer persecution.
And if we overcome by applying what is true of Him to ourselves,

Reve 2:11  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

The first death is physical death.

Reve 20:6  Blessed and holy [is] he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Reve 21:8  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

If we are in the first resurrection, then we will have no need to fear the second death.

These are two examples of how Revelation is a revelation of Jesus Christ, and not so much a future prediction of what will happen to the world.

But Jesus Himself said that only He who has ears will hear what the Spirit is saying through this book.

And when we read in Rev 12 that we overcome by HIS BLOOD and the word of OUR TESTIMONY.

And it all begins for us at the blood.
