Gene 2:8-15 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first [is] Pison: that [is] it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where [there is] gold; And the gold of that land [is] good: there [is] bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river [is] Gihon: the same [is] it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river [is] Hiddekel: that [is] it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river [is] Euphrates. And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
God PLANTED a Garden.
...put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
But there was also the OPTION OF DISOBEYING GOD.
In that Garden there was also a means by which a person could choose to not serve God.
Colo 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you
through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the
rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Colo 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
Gene 3:1-6 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.He made her think that she was lacking something.
COMPARE WHAT GOD MADE IN THE TREES AND WHAT SATAN OFFERED IN
THE FORBIDDEN TREE.
Gene 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Gene 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Notice that the forbidden tree had two character\istics that were
in the other trees.
The forbidden tree had all the characteristics of the other trees,
BUT ALSO HAD AN ADDED CHARACTERISTIC THE OTHER TREES DID NOT HAVE.
God does not want you to ADD ONE LITTLE DETAIL TO HIS WORD.
Jame 3:14-18 But if ye have bitter envying
and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This
wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish.
For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil
work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable,
gentle, [and] easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without
partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown
in peace of them that make peace.
Jame 3:17-18 But the wisdom that is
from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be intreated,
full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
HEBREW HOMES IN GOSHENExod 12:21-23 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip [it] in the blood that [is] in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that [is] in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite [you].
CITY OF REFUGE
Numb 35:25-28 And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil. But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled; And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood: Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.
IN CHRIST
Colo 2:7-10 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
In the three texts mentioned today, there is the issue of being
in a place of safety and remaining inside and not exiting.
We must not let anybody “spoil” or Steal us from being in Him through any trick of philosophy or human tradition.
Colo 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; And then we read that The Father made us “meet” or fit to be a partaker of the inheritance that is laid up in heaven for those who will go there.
Colo 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:Notice that God the Father is said to have already made us fit to be partakers.
Colo 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son:He HAS made us fit for the reward.
If we do not feel worthy, we will seek to make ourselves worthy.
1The 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul prayed that the Thessalonians would be PRESERVED BLAMELESS unto the coming of the Lord.
All of us had faith for God to save us.
Colo 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:Paul warned every body to STAY IN THERE, and said that we actually LEAVE when we stop believing that God made us FIT when he first saved us.Colo 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Colo 2:11-15 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; [And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.This is done!
God put away an entire body of sins of our flesh when we were baptized into Him.
Colo 2:18-19 Let no man beguile
you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding
into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly
mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands
having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase
of God.
Numb 35:28 Because he should have remained
in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after
the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his
possession.
Roma 6:9-10 Knowing that Christ being
raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth
unto God.
Hebr 9:27-28 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Hebr 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
Hebr 7:23-26 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this [man], because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, [who is] holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
Hebr 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken [this is] the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavensThere does not have to be another covenant than that which we have right now.
Hebr 8:7-13 For if that first [covenant]
had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the
Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with
the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their
fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the
land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded
them not, saith the Lord. For this [is] the covenant that I will make with
the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws
into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them
a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every
man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for
all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful
to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember
no more. In that he saith, A new [covenant], he hath made the first old.
Now that which decayeth and waxeth old [is] ready to vanish away.
2Cor 3:7-11 But if the ministration of death, written [and] engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which [glory] was to be done away: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? For if the ministration of condemnation [be] glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. For if that which is done away [was] glorious, much more that which remaineth [is] glorious.
Colo 2:19 And not holding the Head,
from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered,
and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
Colo 3:10 And have put on the new [man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:We are in a new man.
You become stronger.
