WHICH SEED ARE YOU FERTILIZING?

Genesis 1:11-12  And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.  (12)  And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 2:7  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:16-17  And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:  (17)  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 3:3-4  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.  (4)  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Last week we talked about the sower and the seed, and how good ground is not shallow with no depth and no moisture.
•    This next parable ties that idea together with the whole issue of why man is in sin.

Matthew 13:24-30  Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:  (25)  But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.  (26)  But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.  (27)  So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?  (28)  He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?  (29)  But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.  (30)  Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

The ground can receive either of two seeds.
•    Seed from fruit of Life, or from forbidden fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.
•    One will bring life and the other death.

The enemy brought wrong seed after the first man brought good seed.
•    The enemy could only work while men slept.

Ephesians 5:13-14  But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.  (14)  Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

1 Thessalonians 5:5-8  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.  (6)  Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.  (7)  For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.  (8)  But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

You are watching and alert when you’re awake.
•    When you‘re alert an enemy cannot get away with affecting you.

The Word of God is sown, but shallow stony hearts don’t let the seed take root.

Luke 8:6  And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

Luke 8:13  They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

Moisture MOISTURE and ROOTS are focused upon.

Mark 4:5  And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:

Matthew 13:21  Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Offended, falling away, lacking moisture, not depth.
•    This means attacks will come when we being to serve God.
•    Tribulation and persecution are coming.
•    And if the seed can take root, it will strengthen the plant to withstand tribulation and persecution.
•    It will take you through hardships.

When the word sinks it we get strength.
•    How does the word sink in?
•    We consider it, and let it affect us so much that it makes a difference in how we react in life.
•    We actually have considered it enough that we apply it to life when we face struggles.
•    The word is supposed to change the way you react in situations of life.
•    If it’s only a philosophy or a belief, it does not affect our actual lives.
•    MOISTURE is the TIME and CONSIDERATION you give it.

Hebrews 12:1-4  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,  (2)  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.  (3)  For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.  (4)  Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

It tells us to understand how Jesus died, hated every minute of the shame, but looked forward to something afterward.
•    THE JOY after the SHAME.
•    And we‘re told to CONSIDER HIM in that situation.
•    He died in his experience.
•    We have not even come to resisting to the point of shedding blood, and we fail sometimes.
•    But if you let His story sink in and CONSIDER IT enough, you will endure as He did.
•    THAT IS HOW THE ROOTS GROW IN YOUR HEART.
•    THAT gives the seed moisture.
•    Depth of earth.

Chapter 10 of Hebrews teaches how powerful Jesus’ sacrifice is to remit sins, when 1,500 years of animal blood could never affect God enough to make him happy, let alone CHANGE COVENANTS and REMIT your sins.
•    Then it says…

Hebrews 10:18-19  Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.  (19)  Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

Get boldness from that explanation in the BIBLE in the WORD.
•    That is another example of giving the seed moisture and depth of earth.
•    People with no depth and no moisture  don’t do that.

Luke 8:15  But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Luke 8:15  But the ones on the good soil are the people who hear the word but also hold on to it with good and honest hearts, producing a crop through endurance."

Luke 8:15  The seeds that fell in good soil stand for those who hear the message and retain it in a good and obedient heart, and they persist until they bear fruit.

Persist in holding the word until IT AFFECTS THEIR LIVES EVERYDAY!

Like Jacob fighting with the angel and refusing to let go.. I WANT THAT BLESSING PROMISED BY THE WORD.

Hebrews says…

Hebrews 10:22  Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

GOOD GROUND.

Esau was bad ground.

Hebrews 12:15-17  Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;  (16)  Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.  (17)  For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

Esau had it in his grips, blew it, and regretted it later when he sought it in tears, but it was gone.

Colossians 3:15-16  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.  (16)  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

IT IS A KINGDOM WORD.

Look where Jesus went after he ENDURED.

Hebrews 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

It took him to the throne in the holiest of holies.
•    Like Esau’s birthright WOULD HAVE rewarded him inheritance.

Hebrews 10:19  Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

 It takes us in!

Hebrews 6:19-20  Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;  (20)  Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

The HOPE comes from the WORD if it takes root in you!
•    Place of kingdom dominion.
•    POWER in this world.
•    Seated together with HIM IN POWER on his throne.

Chapter 6 says He entered into the holiest past the veil as high priest, and we need to follow him on in.
•    Chapter 10 says he sat on the throne because the work was finished.
•    Chapter 12 says he sat on the throne after he endured.
•    The only seat behind the veil was the mercyseat on the ark of the covenant.
•    A picture of HIS THRONE.

If this word is anchored in you in faith, then it will make you anchored in troubled times to survive and still hold on.
•    Getting anchored like that is said to put us inside the veil on the throne seated with Jesus.
•    The same word you consider and moisturize and give depth of heart to grow in gives you boldness to a place of power in God.

God never intended anything to grow in our soil except the fruit of Life.
•    The man in the parable of the wheat and tares never expected anything to grow but wheat.
•    But an enemy came in.
•    Sowed another seed.

Not only must we be concerned about shallow earth that doesn’t CONSIDER the word enough to see it change the way they react in troubles, but we must also be concerned about OTHER SEEDS AND WORDS that can take root in our hearts and CHOKE THE WORD OF GOD.

Eve was the one the devil targeted.
•    She was not only soil for the seed of Life as Adam was, but she was also to receive Adam’s seed and see Adam reproduce.
•    So she was very important in this story.
•    But although sinners came from her pregnancies from Adam, ADAM STILL CALLED HER EVE because SHE WOULD BE THE MOTHER OF ALL LIVING!

Adam might have heard curses and woes affecting the devil, himself and his wife, and every human to eve be born…
•    But he also HEARD THE PROMISE.

Genesis 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

THE SEED OF THE WOMAN WOULD COME TO DESTROY THE ONE WHO’S RECOMMENDED SEED BROUGHT DESTRUCTION.
•    So, Jesus was a seed to come forth from Mary.
•    And that Seed from the woman, to turn the tables on satan tempting the woman, would be planted one day and RESURRECT!
•    He would not be alone, the only SON OF GOD, after dying and being buried.

Romans 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

But like in the garden so it is today.
•    The enemy still sows BAD SEEDS.
•    Seeds that bring death and not life.
•    And the enemy’s seed is FALSE, and gives no life.
•    DEATH.
•    MAN MADE RELIGION.
•    The seed must come from GOD.
•    If not it ruins the purpose of us being the IMAGE OF GOD.
•    Take the seed of a male donkey for a female horse and a MULE is born with likely no ability to reproduce.
•    HYBRIDs cannot reproduce.

God begat a Son, and that it was a SON that had to be the seed to be planted to reproduce MORE SONS.
•    We are not SONS if we have a man made religion that’s really a seed of the devil that cannot give life.
•    God’s images need HIS WORD, for life or else we will not live eternally.

Only when something is born from another can it have that other’s nature.
•    There is not NEW BIRTH in man’s religion.
•    No life.

2 Timothy 3:5  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Sons cannot be created, but BORN from a BEGETTING.

We’ve been born from Eve, and must be born all over again!
•    And start out with the SEED OF LIFE  from God and let that seed grow.

John 6:54  Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

The blood was shed on the cross.
•    The flesh died on the cross.
•    Taking his blood and flesh means THE WHOLE DEAL OF THE CROSS is how God puts His seed in us.
•    He’s a seed.
•    He died and it becomes more than the tomb he was buried in and resurrects.
•    IT IS ALSO OUR LIVES!
•    It turns us into SONS of God.
•    AND WE GROW and become more like Him.
•    And our growth is stunted and we DIE YOUNG if we get offended when trouble comes, because the WORD never took root in us.
